Sizing for military, police and fire department uniform cap orders:
It is important to have your head properly measured when purchasing a new uniform cap. Measurement is best done with a second person, ideally a uniform tailor or QM. Uniform caps are approximately a half size larger than a beret.
Uniform cap measuring procedure: Place a soft tape measure over the brow, around the head 1 cm above the ears, and above the bump at the back of the head – then back around to the front. The soft measuring tape should be horizontal and parallel to the floor. The soft tape measure should be held firm and pulled tightly.
sizechart
Your measurement can be in centimeters or inches, and using the conversion chart provided below – converted to a hat size.
chart-size
Your uniform cap should fit snug and firm, but not too tight. Uniform caps fit more firmly than a beret or ball cap. Uniform caps can be stretched slightly. To reduce the size, a strip of foam can be added behind the sweatband.
